I could only watch :-(

This might be a very familiar scene for people who travel in the local trains. This one was asusual captured when i was traveling to Office in a train towards central. It is fun for some, irritation for few but this has become life for them. Are these children born to live their life this way. Oh man the kid whom you can see pleading for alms and money seems so talented and energetic. I was just so amazed the way she twisted, turned and brought her her hands tied together putting her legs in to it, bringing behind and over her head back to position, standing upside down. Kids living royal life may not even possess such wonderful strength in them. Who knows if she was in Gymnastics she is one another feather to the country's crown. All I could do that moment was to give her an old 5 Rupee note :-( . My age and the need to grow more in terms of achievement is not letting me do anything really great or meaningful. Hope one such day comes in my life.

Money is'nt everything

Hi am here again after a long time.. to write about an incident I captured. I was waiting to board a train @ Gudur Railway station way back to Chennai. I noticed a boy, should be between 15 to 17 yrs, an orphan. He had a small baby monkey with him, it was squeaking so loudly which actually caught my attention to him. I should say that it was tooooooo pranky one, running here and there not keeping itself in a place. The boy called it and he started to feed some tea or coffee, dipping his fingers in to a disposable cup and making the little prankster lick. I started capturing him on my mob as usual and he somehow noticed it. And I shut my recording after a while. And he came to me calling “ Akka Akka” asking for some money. Gave him some change I had and there came a person middle aged to the boy asking “ enti ra ee kothi naaku isthava 500 isthaanu” (Translation – Hey will u gimme this monkey I will pay you 500) He just looked at him and said “idhi naadhi kaadhandi, valani adagali” (Translation – It is not mine, I need to ask) and went away. I need to say it was so obvious that he does not have to ask anyone, after all I can see both of them are orphans, he did not wanna get parted from this being (a new found friend for him). To escape more questions from the gentleman the boy just got down from the platform to the track and got on to the next platform. I was just thinking, he definitely needs money and 500 is a lottery for him, still he denied it. As I was thinking this, I could still hear the prankster squeak loud from the next platform happily.

Child Labor - Rescue

Heeyyy after a real long time, now I pulled out some time to blog. Something exciting and nice to share. I had been longing to spend a day into something other than watching movies and lunching out. I saw a mail from my office service team which was informing about their plans to get into Child Labor rescue. That is it; I immediately called up the organizer to confirm my presence to volunteer for the program. The plan gave a little hesitation in the beginning coz they had planned to children working in some shops, hotels and so on. They were planning to take help of cops if the owners don’t co operate, which sounded risky but then I said myself "if not now then when". Next day (04 Jul 09) all volunteers and organizers met at Ripon Building. From there we started to Mylapore to spot a Child labor working in a hotel as reported by one of our colleague. But then the boy wasn’t there so the rescue team demanded a letter from the owner agreeing that he will not involve in deploying child labor. From there we started off to spot the next child in the list we had, who happens to work for an Iron shop, but before we reached our target destination I spotted a boy (Manigandan in the pic) working in a Mechanic shop, we stopped the vehicle and the Government Child rescue team members and NGO Child rescue team members went to the shop and started arguing with the owner of the shop and we slowly joined them. In few minutes, could see the place was jammed and everybody stopped their vehicles to see what was going on. Also had to call the COPS since the owner was not letting us take the kid with us. And with the help of COPS we rescued the boy and took him to the Child welfare office of the NGO for the boy’s shelter. Before leaving I just spoke to the boy who was by then in a sad state just to give him a feel of comfort. He said “I wanna go home” I said you will be given proper schooling – and there comes the reply “ I don’t wanna study I wanna work” asking him why, he said “ my parents are too old they can’t work” My eyes went moist that moment, but dint wanna show him and wanting to make him feel relaxed, told him his parents would be called and they will be given options to do some easy work from home and he can take up some vocational courses if don’t wanna study" which is offered by this NGO. Rescuing is just not the task now that I am part of it I should track on how it is taken forward, Anything big happens for once in Life – either good or bad – and keep its impact lifelong. I wanna give this little boy a good one. Hope god gives his support for this good cause.

What did life give them?

What do you think life teaches these kids. When i saw these children were having a cup of tea with biscuits from a near by tea stall at Ethiraj salai. They were about to leave and I could see his brother not much big in size than the ones we see here in the pic. He had a sac and I could see that he is a boy who collects plastic from the road and bins. He does not know what he is doing but he does it and also feed these young ones (could not click him :-( ) I am ashamed that i did not help them in any means. This would remain a pain in me when ever i see this pic. Hope i get a time when i can also do something for such kids.

It was a good week...

Heey hii.. Week was great (with not many difficulties I meant)… some changes in team and some of additional tasks on track. It makes me exciting to do something away from the routine task.
But one thing I noticed about myself is that I am going greatly lazy these days. Need to work on it.
I had been to my company fresher’s induction as a speaker (introducing my team to the young joiners); they must be with their high spirits and energies about their career and new phase. I was just flowing back into my old memories, exactly a year ago; I was at the same place into an induction when I joined this organization.
Hey and yes, we went to “Angels and Demons” this week. Unlike usual where we all used to assemble well on time, missed the first 15 minutes of the show, so could not understand head or tail of it. I should have read the book before I went for this.
Now, I have decided no movies for next few weeks, need to give a break for anything in life, otherwise even this would go routine isn’t it. So need to think of something else interesting and informative to do during the week ends. I am thinking of books as my choice. Lemme see if it works.
Hee Hee
Cheers
